Advice Column Question & Answer

Subject: Lump

QUESTION:

Okay I understand you're not a doctor, but I was wondering about this lump that is on the shaft of my boyfriend's penis. Its a little tender to the touch, and I know its not an std, we're seriously monogomous. It showed up almost overnight really, and it hasn't effected his erections or urination in any way. He's not too worried, but then again if he wasn't somewhat worried I wouldn't be writing this. He claims that this has happened once before, when he was about 14, hes 22 now. Is this common or should he be getting checked out by a doctor?

REPLY:

It's tender and both of you have some level of concern about it. Seems to me it would be worth having a doctor check it out, if only to reassure you that everything is alright.
