Advice Column Question & Answer

Subject: Cramping Up

QUESTION:

When my boyfriend and I have sex and he pre cums. I am on birth control pill and he still wears a condom. We were wondering if it would be a big chance of me getting pregnant from us not using a condom, from the precum.

REPLY:

If you are properly taking your birth control, having him use condoms provides additional protection. Why not have that added assurance? Of course, using condoms would be necessary to help reduce the chance of sexually transmitted diseases. Birth control does not handle this. Pre cum does contain sperm. I would think proper birth control would keep your chances of getting pregnant to a minimum but I'd stay with condoms because of STDs. Fluid-bonded exclusive partners who have already tested themselves to be without STDs would not need to use condoms.
